Professional Ethics & Trauma-Informed Care

Trauma often involves disrupted power, blurred boundaries, or the loss of choice. Ethical support restores structure and sets the stage for solid progress.

Whether through psychotherapy or therapeutic coaching, my work is grounded in informed consent, relational clarity, and respect for your autonomy.

Scope of Services

I offer both psychotherapy and therapeutic coaching.

Psychotherapy is provided in the states where I am licensed as a clinical social worker (California, Colorado, Texas, and Florida). Therapeutic coaching is available more broadly and is not psychotherapy.

Coaching may include trauma education, integration support, skills development, and relational insight. It does not include diagnosis, medical treatment, or crisis care.

If your needs require a different level of support, I will name that directly and help you identify appropriate resources.

Informed Consent

Before beginning, you will receive written consent documents outlining the nature of our work, potential risks and benefits, confidentiality and its limits, communication policies, and emergency procedures.

Consent is ongoing and collaborative. You are encouraged to ask questions at any point.

Confidentiality

Your information is protected in accordance with professional ethical standards and applicable law. Limits to confidentiality — including safety concerns, mandated reporting requirements, or court order — are discussed openly from the start.

Secure platforms are used for online sessions.

Power, Boundaries & Repair

Trauma-informed care requires awareness of power and influence. Clear relational boundaries are maintained, and dual relationships that compromise safety are avoided.

If misunderstandings occur, we address them directly. Repair is part of ethical practice.

Ongoing Accountability

I maintain continuing education, consultation, and reflective practice to support ethical care. Licensure and credential information are available upon request, and clients are encouraged to voice concerns if they arise.

Public Ethical Commitment

Work involving trauma and altered states can heighten vulnerability. For that reason, ethical commitments should be visible.

Alongside structured consent processes and professional oversight, I have signed the North Star Ethics Pledge — a public commitment to consent, boundary clarity, non-exploitation, and accountability.
